Youth Learning Symposium
Saturday 25 July 2009

The Youth Learning Symposium held at the Darwin Convention Centre on September 17 2009 brought together researchers, youth participants and facilitators from the key research sites in the Lifespan Learning and Literacy for Young Adults in Remote Indigenous Communities 2007-2010 research project, as well as invitees from youth-oriented fields, including government, NGOs, academia, libraries and education. The symposium program drew on four key themes to emerge from the research:

  •  Youth learning
  •  Arts: multimedia, music and theatre
  •  Language and literacy
  •  Enterprise and organisational learning

Four theme-related films were shown and these were made by the research participants prior to the Symposium. Symposium invitees received handouts and background reading material related to the preliminary research findings. Symposium handouts can be accessed via links on this webpage.

We would like to thank all those who participated in the workshops and discussions and made this a successful and productive day for all.
